Admission Requirements

The BA and BFA programs are open to all eligible freshmen and qualified transfer students. However, the Art Department recommends that students not prepared for a portfolio review seek admission to a BA program. Once in residence, students may apply for the Printmaking BFA program after a suitable portfolio has been assembled. Most students do not submit a portfolio for admission into a BFA program until they have been at CSULB for at least two semesters.

Students seeking admission to the BFA program must:

  1. Meet the entrance requirements of the University. (see University Admissions)

  2. Provide transcripts of all college-level units to the Art Department, California State University, Long Beach, 1250 Bellflower Boulevard, Long Beach, CA 90840-3501.

In addition, a copy of your transcripts must be submitted to the University Admissions office, California State University, Long Beach, 1250 Bellflower Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90840.

  3. Submit an application for the portfolio review, then submit a portfolio of creative work to the Printmaking Department. For specific requirements, deadlines and applications, contact the Art Department Student Services office (562) 985-7819.
