Editorial Mission Statement

I don't like the word mission. It implies a defined set of actions with a specific, limited goal that once achieved signals the end of the mission. Everyone packs up and goes home. That's not our plan. StudioTalk does not have a mission. It has an aim, as in something to strive or struggle for.

StudioTalk's aim is to foster a conversation among the communities of the CSULB Art Department and the art world at large. It aims to bring the art world to CSULB students and to take CSULB students outside the university walls to a larger community.

StudioTalk is an online magazine about art and artists, and we will strive to engage our subjects intelligently and critically, with an eye towards the new and an understanding of the past.

The conversation that we are aiming for is one that will continue to grow and evolve as new and diverse voices bring their ideas to the ongoing discussion.

Welcome to StudioTalk. Welcome to the conversation.
